If you’ve ever played the online marble-popping game Luxor, then you might want to check out PlayCreek’s StoneLoops! of Jurassica, a very similarly designed game for the iPhone and iPod touch. StoneLoops! of Jurassica is a puzzle-arcade game that lets you blow up tiny colored stones by shooting matching colored ones at groups of three or more. The objective is to clear all the stones in a level before the entire strand reaches the dinosaur skull and the end of the trail. StoneLoops! of Jurassica gives you quite a bit of prehistoric bang for your buck. There are 75 challenging levels to play through, and I do mean challenging. The final levels in each realm, beginning with the prehistoric jungle realm right on up to the volcanic realm, left me wanting to chuck my treasured little device right through the nearest window. Yet, I couldn’t quit playing. Each level in StoneLoops! of Jurassica features a big old dung beetle or some sort that pushes colored stones through differently designed, looping mazes towards a dino skull that eats them all up. You control a mean looking “thing” that acts as your stone launcher. Supplied with randomly different-colored stones, you launch them up at the advancing chain to try to destroy the stones in groups of three or more. StoneLoops! of Jurassica features attainable power-ups and bonus gems for earning trophies and house upgrades, has bonus levels, and two different modes of game play. Completing sequences of explosions will earn you the power ups and if you catch them, provide some unique and helpful actions such as stopping or reversing the chain or blowing up large parts of it. Many levels you simply can’t get through without them so pay attention and be sure to catch them as they fall. StoneLoops! of Jurassica is addicting fun and non-stop, edgy arcade action that provides hours of play. The controls frustrate the heck out of me even though you can use touch or tilt. I absolutely reek of failure when I try the tilt controls and the touch controls are a bit tight even for my little fingers, but shrinking the game zone to enlarge the control zone might not have been acceptable and I have adapted. StoneLoops! of Jurassica is a heck of a deal. Hats off to the developers for a solid debut app
